Subject: Amazing Show - even better recording

Yeah 15 stars is appropriate here.

The sound is just unbelievably well captured. I even like the little bit of the crowd noise that is there...Its the finest recording I have heard of them.

Thanks to the taper and to archive.org. And of course, Toubab for putting on consistently excellent shows.

Amazing show, the last poster was indeed correct, this is a masterpiece.

Chasse really shines...
Moose always makes us want to rock our bodies up and down to the beat
Kaira was amazing, very patient buildup...
Rooster and Salut were peaceful yet evocative
Wassalou probably is my favorite from this show...just so entrancing...

or: I'll never rate five stars the same way now.

Not only Toubab Krewe plays _great_ music, in a total west african blues fashion, with inspiration, skill and talent. But this recording is of top quality: each instrument is heard as if the band played in a crystal cave, but also the audience's reactions are fully depicted without corrupting the sound of the music.
This should be 15 stars, 5 for the group, 5 for the performance and 5 for the audio quality. Total respect and unlimited thanks for this masterpiece.

Subject: Great show!

Thanks to the Z-Man for the excellent tape! The band put on a great show for a small but lively audience. Lots of newer songs mixed in with the classics. By the end, about 2/3 of the people at The Ark were up on the dance floor. The band seemed genuinely happy to be in Ann Arbor, and the set was long and energetic.
